I've always been inspired by the wonderful 1767 portrait of Mrs. George Turner by John Singleton Copley shown in the first image. Her giant collet necklace is so evocative of the 18th century, as well as her large matching blue earrings.
I studied several other extant pieces that had these same look, and it turns out that the double oval with small stones on the sides is a common style of 18th Century earring, so I knew I had to reproduce them!
These are substantial and bold earrings. They are made with vintage Cezch glass Sapphire stones in a rich, bold blue. Such a beautiful and classic color!
The settings are high quality Gold-plated cast-brass and the backs are soldered on for extra strength, security, AND accuracy!
